The internet knows everything: Roomba 563 (Pet Hair Edition) started clunking, and this nice guy from down under made a video showing me how to fix it.

I loaned my Roomba to a friend. She said it just spun in circles with an orange light flashing.
I told her that indicated it was “spot” cleaning.
And that she would need to use a conventional vac first.
Jeez, how can you let your house get that dirty?

I didn’t know Roomba knew about the level of dirt. Ours does good work. Sometimes we deep clean with a Dyson the SigOther insisted we buy (I maintain it solves a problem that doesn’t exist - going around corners).

It’s fun to throw a bit of dirt/sand/salt in front of it and watch the reaction. Try it sometime. Just do it on a hard surface.
I also have a Dyson. It does clean deeper than the Roomba.
I particularly like the Roomba on hard surfaces and underneath things like beds and elevated dressers.

It’s also fun to move a table or a chair just to fuck with it ... it learns the rooms (we have 3 it can reach, the bathroom is a step up) but it gets a bit confused if something is out of place.

And I should have said - I have tested it - put a big ball of cat hair somewhere to make sure it gets it. It almost always does.
